Definisi dan Penggunaan

Properti alt menetapkan atau mengembalikan nilai atribut alt dari suatu gambar.

Atribut alt yang diperlukan menentukan teks alternatif untuk gambar, jika gambar karena alasan tertentu tidak dapat ditampilkan (karena koneksi lambat, kesalahan dalam atribut src, atau jika pengguna menggunakan pembaca layar).

Catatan: Internet Explorer menampilkan nilai atribut alt sebagai tooltip saat mengarahkan mouse ke elemen <img>. Ini BUKAN perilaku yang benar, menurut spesifikasi HTML. Semua browser lain mengikuti spesifikasi, dan hanya akan menampilkan teks alternatif jika gambar tidak dapat ditampilkan.

Tip: Jika Anda ingin membuat tooltip untuk gambar, gunakan atribut judul global.
